Our Purpose

At Craft Business Group our purpose is to offer integrated financial and marketing services where each client’s strategic needs are attended to with customised precision and skill. We offer insight through experience and expertise.

Our Philosophy

According to the well-known Italian author Dr. Ernesto Sirolli, there is no one who can make an amazing product, be a fantastic marketer, and be tremendous at finance all in one. We believe that there are… “Those who make it, those who sell it, and those who look after the money”. Craft Business Group was founded on this philosophy and we aim to assist our entrepreneurial clients with an integrated financial and marketing service.

Our Story

Number Craft, the financial leg of Craft Business Group was founded by Malan Botha in 2018 with the main aim to serve clients through a personalised approach to Management Accounting. Soon after founding the company, he realised that many of his clients needed marketing related guidance and solutions. In 2020 Carla Janse van Vuuren joined Number Craft as a marketing consultant. The joint approach to serving clients through financial and marketing insight quickly gained momentum which led to the establishment of Consumer Craft, the marketing leg of Craft Business Group, early in 2021. Together Number and Consumer Craft operate under Craft Business Group to offer integrated financial and marketing business partnerships with clients in a variety of niche value sectors in South Africa. We believe that we can assist in a wide variety of financial and marketing related elements where we start by looking at the holistic business and market picture and then work toward bespoke crafting of deliverables – much like the holistic, yet dedicated precision a bonsai sculptor would use to approach his masterpiece.

About Malan Botha

Malan obtained the Degrees BCom and BComHons in Management Accounting at the University of Stellenbosch in 2009 and 2010 respectively. After completing his articles at a medium sized boutique audit firm, he was appointed as Business Development Manager in 2014, subsequently being appointed as co-founding Director of an Advisory subsidiary at the same firm in March 2015. During this time he also qualified as a Professional Accountant (SA), and Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA, CGMA) with CIMA. Backed by the valuable experience gained during this period in a corporate environment, Malan founded Number Craft in July 2018 to aim his focus more toward holistic and personlised financial consulting, in a smaller yet dynamic environment.

Philosophy and Purpose

Although finance and tax are crucial compliance functions to any business, it is too often constricted to tax calculations and SARS submissions. Financial figures represent stories, aspirations, hard work, and brave decisions. It is through understanding the stories within the figures that good questions can be asked, and good answers found. At Number Craft we aim to maintain a solid and hassle-free compliance base, on which financial insights can be further mined, to aim and drive business and personal objectives.

Services

At Number Craft we provide accounting and tax compliance services. We also place great priority on establishing business growth strategies through mining of financial and business insights which is communicated and delivered through consultation and bespoke business intelligence reporting. We also assist with the crafting of business and financial models, viability analysis, and more specifically provide investment appraisal, valuation, and due diligence services. Where appropriate alternative finance, such as venture capital and private equity funding, can also be facilitated through our finance partners.

About Carla Janse van Vuuren

After completing her BCom Business Management degree in 2009, Carla continued to complete her BComHons in Marketing and Consumer Psychology. The research field she found most interesting during her studies was wine marketing and consumer decision making. As a young professional, Carla started her career in marketing by gaining valuable experience in 2011 at a well-known wine shop and deli in Stellenbosch and soon after at Distell. However, Carla soon realised that a MCom degree would help her gain more specialised knowledge in the field of Marketing and Consumers Psychology. After showing interest in this degree Carla was offered a lecturing position at Stellenbosch University and became a full-time academic in 2012. After eight years of teaching and research (both locally and internationally) in Marketing, Consumer Psychology, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management she decided that sharing her knowledge and passion for marketing could extend even further. After being approached by Malan, who shared his tri-pod philosophy, in June 2020 she started offering marketing advise and guidance to Number Craft clients. They soon realised that no financial service can be provided to its full potential without a holistic, consumer-centered, strategic marketing approach and this gave way to the establishment of Consumer Craft in 2021.

Philosophy and Purpose

What are some of the strongest brands built on? Expertise and insight… If one can ask the right questions, insightful answers will follow. In a nutshell, Consumer Craft originated by asking marketing related questions and finding that many business owners have the answers, but not necessarily the expertise or means to validate or communicate it. At Consumer Craft we aim to bridge the gap between entrepreneurial passion and marketing practice by empowering business owners to reach and communicate with their consumers in a highly strategic manner. Consumer behaviour is ever-changing, but through market related insight strategic marketing decisions can benefit not only the business owner, but also the consumer, and the community at large.

In the process of planning we engage in market related research to ensure that our output is based on credible insight.
